Lowri and David’s Winter Welsh Wedding at The Country House Lake Hotel
You can’t beat a Winter Welsh Wedding, especially when they are as fun and wild as Lowri and David’s Wedding at The Country House Lake Hotel in Wales. I’d covered a wedding here some years ago, so it was good to be back.
I’m not going to ramble on about how the wedding went as the photos tell their own story. That said Lowri, the bride has got a few things to say, so here is their story……
Their Story
Dave and I met when we were both living in Oxford – I was completing my Mental Health Nurse training at Oxford Brookes and Dave was working at RAF Brize Norton.
Our first date was fairly relaxed; We met in the centre of Oxford and spend some time walking in Christchurch gardens getting to know each other. We also went to Nando’s which sounds unromantic but we just took the day as it came and the hours seemed to fly by!
The proposal
Dave’s work has often taken him away at times – at the time he proposed he was working away during the week and commuting home for weekends. Therefore Friday evenings were always something to look forward to – this one being the anniversary of our first date making it extra special. I had been dropping hints about a present all week but even so was surprised when Dave was home early and there was a present waiting for me in the kitchen. It turned out to be a special edition of my favourite book, Jane Eyre, with the ring tied on the front cover. Initially I had thought the ring was just a decoration on the book, so was very happily surprised when Dave asked me to marry him!
The Winter Welsh Wedding day
The wedding day was a wonderful opportunity to get together all of our friends and family and we have so many happy memories of the day, captured so well by Steve in his pictures. We focused on keeping things relaxed and fun, and as it was the week before Christmas there was naturally a festive spirit.
We chose the Lake Hotel because we love the traditional and relaxed atmosphere there. Also, my Mum and Stepdad had their wedding reception there, so it was extra special for us as a family. Also, the hotel at Christmas time is so cosy with the log fires and numerous trees. Luke, the manager, and all the team there were excellent and made sure the day ran smoothly.
Why we chose Ketch 22 Photography
We chose Steve of Ketch 22 Photography as our photographer because we loved the examples of photos on his website whereby he has so wonderfully caught the natural expressions of people enjoying the day. We didn’t want anything that felt staged or forced, we just wanted both for us and our guests to have fun and for that to come through in the photos, which we really think he achieved and so much more!
Big thanks Steve!
