Anishka & Kesh’s Hindu wedding reception in London
Earlier in the year, I covered Anishka & Kesh’s Indian wedding in London.
They chose me as their wedding photographer as my style was very different to many photographers who cover Indian weddings. They wanted something natural, relaxed, fun and creative and my style of documentary photography seemed to suit their requirements.
A whole week of events
The wedding was to have five separate events spread over a week. Starting with a Chunderi and Garba dancing at Watford Colosseum. Then we had the Civil Ceremony at The Museum of the order of St John in London. After that, here was the Henna night or Mehendi and Sangeet at the Great Barn at the Winston Churchill theatre in Ruislip. On the Saturday was the grand event with the Hindu wedding ceremony at Highclere Castle where they film Downton Abbey in Berkshire and finally finishing with the reception on the Sunday at Micklefeild Hall in Hertfordshire. You can see some of my favourite samples of in the montage below.
At Micklefield Hall I started the day by getting some shots of Anishka and her sisters getting ready. As at the Hindu ceremony, Anishka had a magnificent traditional Indian dress to wear. All handmade and full of texture and colour. After preparations, I took a few shots of the couple around the beautiful gardens before the guests arrived for their welcoming drinks and canapes on the lawn. Eventually, the wedding breakfast was to be served in the large Marquee that had been set up for the evening celebrations.
After the meal, there were speeches, the first dance and then lots of dancing and I mean lots of dancing! Everybody was on the dance floor having tremendous fun and it was a joy to capture on my camera.
