Wedding photography Powys with Hannah and Lee
I really loved covering Hannah and Lee’s recent wedding in Walton, Powys. Hannah ready at her parent’s house. As usual, I documented the event with my camera.There are always plenty of moments to capture at the bridal preparations. There is always a hive of activity with not only the bride and bridesmaids getting ready but also members of the family. Crucially it’s always important to capture the bride in the final stages of her preparations. capturing Mum and the bridesmaids making a fuss over the bride.
The Church was just a short drive away from Hannah’s parent’s house. I generally arrive about thirty minutes prior to the ceremony. That way I could capture Lee greeting the guests as they arrive. This a great opportunity to get some reactions on faces as they greet Lee. Once the guests had all settled down we awaited the arrival of Hannah with her Dad. At this stage I don’t disturb the proceedings with any setup shots, I just let Hannah and her father exit the wedding car. This is quite often a good moment to capture the expressions on the bridesmaid’s faces.
Moving into the Church it can be quite dark inside. My canon 5d mark 3 allows me to photograph in very low light conditions. Not using a flash allows me to be discreet and capture the wonderful moments during the wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony, all the wedding party jumped into their cars and set off to a large marquee set up in a field just down the road. Meanwhile, I set off with Hannah and Lee to a rape seed field where we could get a few shots. I don’t drag the couple off for hours for hundreds of very posed photos. It’s not my style I just take the couple away for 15 to 20 minutes. After that back to the wedding reception to capture a few family shots and then back to telling the story in a natural way.
Great photo opportunities at the reception include the speeches, guests having fun, the first dance and finally pictures of the wedding guests embarrassing themselves on the dance floor!
