Fantastic summer Wedding at a very unique Venue
It was last June when I photographed the very special Matara Centre Wedding of Haddasah and Matt. The bride’s side of the family was from South Africa and the groom’s from up North in the UK. It’s not unusual for me to be covering Weddings for couples coming from different continents. For me, the mix of cultures just makes the Wedding so much more interesting.
The bridal preparations
I started the day recording events of Haddasah and her bridesmaids getting ready. There is a tiny cottage at the Matara Centre which is perfect for bridal preparations. I arrived to find all the girls in good spirit and relaxed. Haddasah sat crossed legged on a chair having her hair done. Meanwhile, all the girls were sat on the bed doing their bits and bobs. Matt and the boys were busy with their final preparations at the pub and hotel just over the road from the venue. For the final touches, the bride moved over to the bridal suite located in the main country house. Dad came in to take a peek and gave his daughter a very comforting and emotional hug.
The Matara Centre Wedding Ceremony
Downstairs the guests were arriving gathering in the beautiful patio garden. Family and relatives greeted each other and chatted before entering the Matara Centre Wedding ceremony area. The ceremony area features a beautiful pond, complete with golden carp and Japanese style garden. The area feels very zen-like and peaceful. In fact, it’s a real oasis, totally unique and certainly a wonderful location to get married. There is a platform that projects over the pond. It is here that most of the Wedding ceremonies take place. It’s a really cracking location and to be honest I don’t think there is anything quite like it in the whole of the UK. So if your looking for a venue with something different this is definitely the place.
The reception and beyond
After the ceremony, it’s drinks and canapes and then it was onto the Spiral circle located on the lawn. Here another ceremony was performed. Haddasah and Matt started off by walking around the spiral circle making their way into the center. Shortly afterward the guests followed. At the end of the ceremony, the couple held hands whilst being wrapped in colorful ribbons. The whole thing was a really wonderful experience and a joy to watch and photograph. When I finally left the Wedding in the late hours the party was still going very strong. I’d like to thank Haddasah and all the guests for being so friendly and warm. What a couple and what a Wedding venue. I’m certainly looking forward to going back to this venue in the future!
Some kind words
Here are a few kind words Haddash and Matt said about me…..
“Hi Steve, thank you so much. You absolutely made our day! The Wedding slideshow is brilliant and the photos are incredible! We have been in tears and laughter watching it. “
