Beautiful Winter wedding at Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire
I love covering castle weddings and one of my favourites has to be Berkeley castle in Gloucestershire. If you’re looking for a castle to get married in you can’t get more authentic than this wedding venue.
The castle is one of the many March castles, built in Norman times to keep the Welsh out! However, these day’s the Welsh are very welcome.
Steeped in history
Steeped in history it has all the architectural touches to match. Trip steps, designed to make the enemy stumble. Murder holes, enormous barrel doors, arrow slits. You get the picture.
Outside the Castle walls, there’s a great lawn stretching beneath. Paths take you around the gardens and an old moat area complete with fountain. Back inside the castle is a courtyard with towers, windows, and doors of all sizes. If all that’s not enough you can admire a great view across the Gloucestershire landscape.
Amazing backdrops for wedding photography
As a wedding photographer, I’m never short of great backdrops and moody light, which is just what, you want for great wedding photos.
I hope you enjoy the samples of Liz and Ashley’s wedding. They got married at the Castle in the winter. We were fortunate enough to have a sunny day and come the evening it was really cosy inside with the Castle lighting and open fires. Liz and Ashley and all the wedding guests had a great day in the perfect setting.
